Sam Oriti

Sam Oriti, P.E. earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Akron and an Associate degree in Electronic Technology from the University of Akron.  He is a Licensed Professional Engineer in Ohio and an Active member in IEEE C57 Transformer Committees.  Sam won the CustomerFirst Spotlight Award in 2008 for providing outstanding customer service.  

 

Mr. Oriti recently retired from FirstEnergy where he demonstrated success in specifying, procuring and evaluating major substation power equipment. This includes transmission and extra high voltage (EHV) class transformers, circuit breakers, capacitor banks, voltage regulators, reactors, and mobile substation equipment.

Some of his responsibilities included Specification Preparation/Revisions, Manufacturing Quality Inspections Domestically and Internationally, Preparation of Technical/Economic Equipment Evaluations, and Equipment Drawing Review/Approvals.

 

During his time at FirstEnergy, Mr. Oriti served as an Advanced Engineer and Senior Engineer.  In these roles he directed a group of two engineers and one business analyst. He handled all order- follow- through activities to insure the electrical equipment was ordered correctly, arrived on schedule and costs were within budget.

 

Mr. Oriti worked independently to insure all electrical equipment was ordered for substations for the entire company prior to GPU merger. He provided technical assistance to the fossil and nuclear plants for assisting in order placement of large GSU and auxiliary transformers.He specified major substation equipment and worked closely with substation design engineering. Mr. Oriti also performed substation design estimates and provided technical support to field personnel in maintenance for the construction of electrical substations.
